Fiddle Workshop with John Kirk
John Kirk has a diverse repertoire drawn from Celtic and north American sources. He will demonstrate a journey of fiddling styles from the stately melodies of the British Isles to Texas swing. The traditional dance tunes he brings to the workshop can be played by beginners and John can offer advanced techniques for more advanced instrumentalists.
Guitar workshop with Tom Hodgson
Tom Hodgson has been playing rhythm guitar backup in a variety of traditional music ensembles for more than thirty years. In his workshop, Tom will be actively sharing ideas and responding to questions about various rhythm guitar accompaniment techniques. Topics could include strumming techniques and variations, bass runs, chord substitutions, alternate tunings, and effective strategies of supporting other musicians in a band. While all are welcome to attend the workshop, the content and activities of the session will assume participants already have a basic level of profiency in playing the guitar.
